Having formed in 1998, the duo has consistently fused historical references—most notably Kraftwerk—with the grander, more atmospheric impulses of bands like Pink Floyd. Their sound is less about nostalgia and more about continuation.
The absence of “Oh, Lover,” a collaboration with Susanne Sundfør, was notable, as her voice offers a certain lyrical gravitas. Still, “Stay Awhile” from Profound Mysteries III served as an emotional fulcrum for the set.
